Abstract

Globalization has significantly transformed cultural landscapes by increasing interaction among societies through trade, technology, media, and migration. This paper examines whether globalization leads to cultural homogenization—the dominance of a single global culture—or cultural hybridization—the blending of diverse cultural elements to create new forms. It explores how global forces influence local traditions, identities, and social practices. While some scholars argue that globalization erodes cultural diversity through standardization and the spread of dominant cultures, others highlight its role in fostering creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange. The study argues that globalization produces both homogenization and hybridization simultaneously, depending on social, economic, and cultural contexts. Understanding this dual process is essential for analyzing contemporary cultural transformation.
