Abstract

Parenting styles play a crucial role in shaping adolescents’ personality development, emotional regulation, and social behavior. Psychological research has consistently highlighted the family as a primary context in which personality traits, values, and behavioral patterns are formed. the influence of different parenting styles on adolescent personality development from a psychological perspective. Drawing on established classifications of parenting styles such as authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful, how parental warmth, control, and communication affect adolescents’ self-esteem, autonomy, emotional stability, and social competence. Authoritative parenting, characterized by high responsiveness and balanced control, is generally associated with positive personality outcomes, including confidence, self-discipline, and emotional maturity. In contrast, authoritarian and neglectful parenting styles are often linked to anxiety, low self-esteem, and behavioral problems. a quantitative research approach using standardized measures of parenting styles and adolescent personality traits. variations across gender and socio-cultural backgrounds to understand the broader psychological implications of parenting practices. The findings emphasize that adolescents’ personality development is shaped not only by parental behavior but also by the quality of parent–child relationships. supportive and consistent parenting practices play a significant role in fostering healthy personality development during adolescence. Understanding the impact of parenting styles can inform parental guidance programs and psychological interventions aimed at promoting adolescents’ emotional and social well-being.
