Abstract

Pollinating insects play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and agricultural productivity. These insects facilitate the transfer of pollen between flowers, enabling fertilization and the production of fruits, seeds, and crops. Agricultural ecosystems depend heavily on pollination services provided by a diverse range of insects, including bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies, and wasps. the diversity and ecological importance of pollinating insects in agricultural ecosystems and highlights their contributions to crop production, plant reproduction, and ecosystem stability. Pollinating insects support the reproductive success of both cultivated and wild plant species, thereby enhancing genetic diversity and maintaining ecological balance. The diversity of pollinator species contributes to the efficiency and resilience of pollination processes, ensuring consistent crop yields under varying environmental conditions. However, pollinator populations worldwide are facing significant threats from habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, invasive species, diseases, and agricultural intensification. Declines in pollinator abundance and diversity can negatively affect food production, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem services. the role of pollinator-friendly farming practices, habitat conservation, and sustainable agricultural management in protecting pollinating insect populations. Understanding the ecological significance of pollinators is essential for ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability and environmental health. the need for integrated conservation strategies that promote pollinator diversity while supporting productive and resilient agricultural ecosystems.
