Abstract
It has long been acknowledged that sports are potent social institutions that mold national identity, collective consciousness, and cultural values. In addition to being fun and a great way to get some exercise, sports also provide a forum for national pride, tradition, ambition, and history. Celebrity athletes, national teams, and international athletic events may serve as powerful symbols of national pride and solidarity, bringing people together and making them feel like they belong. The connection between sports and national identity has emerged as a significant field of sociological study due to the pervasive impact of globalization, media expansion, and international competition on contemporary society. from a sociological vantage point, sports and national identity. Through common experiences, rituals, and symbols, as well as group involvement, it delves into how sports can build, express, and strengthen national identity. The power of athletic events to bring people together as a nation, foster social harmony, and instill a sense of civic pride, especially during global contests when athletes represent their nations.
