Abstract

The structure of scientific research varies according to the field and discipline in which it is conducted. Research in the experimental and technical sciences differs significantly from that in the humanities and social sciences, as the nature of the discipline determines the research methodologies employed as well as the overall organization of the study, from its introduction to its conclusion. One aspect that has particularly attracted our attention is the apparent similarity of the preliminary background sections in many research papers. However, the introduction, as an essential component of a research paper, encompasses more than a mere preliminary overview. In legal research, it possesses distinctive structural and methodological features that differentiate it from introductions in other disciplines, particularly with respect to elements such as the research problem, hypotheses, and methodological framework. These distinctive characteristics constitute the focus of the present paper.
