Abstract
Marriage compatibility is interpreted through diverse cultural, social, personal, and religious frameworks. Astrology has historically played a role in some societies by providing systems for assessing compatibility, selecting auspicious dates, interpreting personality, and guiding family discussions. This paper examines astrology and marriage compatibility with particular attention to beliefs and social practices. It explores zodiac and birth-chart matching, family involvement, cultural traditions, marriage timing, relationship expectations, social identity, digital astrology, changing practices, and critical perspectives. Astrological compatibility may provide families and couples with a symbolic framework for discussing perceived similarities and differences. In some cultural contexts, astrological matching may be integrated into broader marriage customs and family decision-making. In contemporary settings, however, practices vary widely, with some individuals treating astrology as important guidance and others viewing it as entertainment or cultural heritage. Marriage outcomes are influenced by communication, trust, shared values, economic circumstances, emotional maturity, mutual respect, and consent. Astrology has not been scientifically established as a reliable predictor of marital success. The paper therefore treats astrology primarily as a cultural and social practice while examining its continuing relevance in contemporary marriage discussions.
