Abstract
One of the most important constitutional organizations in the biggest democracy in the world, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is in charge of making sure that elections in India are free, fair, and transparent. By holding elections for the positions of President and Vice President as well as for seats in Parliament and state legislatures, the Commission, which was established under Article 324 of the Indian Constitution, is crucial in protecting the integrity of the democratic process. the Election Commission's constitutional authority, electoral duties, institutional autonomy, and contributions to electoral integrity; and how all of these play a part in bolstering democracy in India. The efforts of the Commission to raise voter education, increase voting accuracy with new technologies like VVPAT and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), enforce the Model Code of Conduct, and guarantee that underrepresented and marginalized groups can fully participate in the electoral process. Election fraud, disinformation on social media, political meddling, worries about campaign funding, and the growing difficulty of overseeing large-scale elections are some of the issues covered.
