The Adverse Effects of Food Additives on Consumer Health and Safety between Necessity and Risk-

Abstract

Consumer goods purchased in everyday life are rarely free from food additives, whose incorporation is often regarded as a technological necessity. Although food additives have received considerable attention and have been regulated internationally by expert bodies operating under the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Codex Alimentarius, the Algerian legislature has likewise addressed and regulated their use in accordance with international standards. Nevertheless, food additives continue to raise concerns and may pose risks to consumer health and safety.
