Abstract
This study examines the public policies directed toward the agricultural sector and analyzes their role in strengthening agricultural development and increasing domestic production. It also investigates the main determinants required to improve agricultural performance and ensure sustainable sectoral growth. Particular attention is given to the agricultural development programs implemented in southern Algeria, where the expansion of cultivated areas and the growing contribution of agriculture to gross domestic product have become increasingly significant in recent years.
To provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject, the study discusses major agricultural challenges within the broader framework of economic reforms targeting the sector. It further evaluates the strategies adopted by public authorities to stimulate agricultural activity and highlights the contribution of different economic actors to the modernization and expansion of agriculture, especially through investment projects in southern regions aimed at raising production levels, diversifying agricultural output, and reinforcing national food self-sufficiency.
