Abstract

In November 2020, Ankit Sahni an artist-lawyer, while using his AI-based art tool, RAGHAV (Robust Artificially Intelligent Graphics and Art Visualizer) raised a debate regarding intellectual property rights and artificial intelligence when the Indian Copyright Office initially granted copyright registration to an artwork titled Suryast, listing the AI system RAGHAV as a co-author alongside its human creator, which lead to a major controversy.[1] However, the registration was later withdrawn after questions arose about the AI’s legal status, reflecting the
