Abstract
The Indian judiciary confronts a systemic crisis of unparalleled magnitude: an excess of fifty million pending cases, of which cheque dishonour prosecutions under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 constitute approximately twenty to thirty percent of all criminal pendency. This research paper undertakes a critical, multi-disciplinary evaluation of this crisis and the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in alleviating it.
